COUNTY CUP

Our adult county teams compete in two County Cup events every year.

LTA Summer County Cup, commonly known as 'County Week', is a 5 day event and is possibly the oldest tennis event on the
domestic calendar, dating back as far as 1895.

44 counties across the nation are divided into groups based on their results of the previous year’s event with Group 1 being the ‘premier league’. Teams compete against each other over the 5 days to see which team comes out as champions.  

Winter County Cup is a three-day weekend event which takes place at venues around the nation every year. 

The 44 counties are placed in 22 groups of four counties per gender. These groups are placed in order of the previous year’s results with
Group 1 being the ‘premier league’.

The ladies team came up against some tough opposition but never lost their fighting spirit with every match hard fought, missing out on some crucial tie-breaks. With a well earned 5-4 win over Cornwall on the last day, the team finished 6th and will move to Group 6 next year.

In a very closely matched group, the men’s team won their first 3 matches, 5-4 against Northumberland, Oxford and Sussex followed by a loss to eventual Group winners Somerset.

Brilliant tennis from our ladies’ team finishing a solid third in an extremely competitive Group 3A.  The team fought hard all weekend, pushed every county close and showed real Dorset spirit from the first ball to the last.

Congratulations to our men’s team for a fantastic Winter County Cup weekend, claiming top spot in their Group with an emphatic 8-1 triumph over Cornwall and a gritty 5-4 win against Gloucestershire, where one singles match lasted an impressive 2 hours and 45 minutes!
