Congratulations to our amazing 18U girls’ team for their outstanding performance at County Cup, securing victory in all three matches and earning promotion, for the second consecutive year, to Division 2. Their winning scores – 6-3 against Buckinghamshire on the first day followed by another impressive 6-3 win over Nottinghamshire on Day 2 and a triumphant 6-3 win against Nottinghamshire on the final day. An incredible weekend for the team.
Our boys’ team faced tough competition throughout the weekend. Day 1, the team were up against Cheshire, a very close match with Dorset narrowly missing out on a win, 4-5. The second day saw the team facing a formidable Yorkshire team, the overall Group winners. With 6 players in the top 100, it was always going to be tough. The team showed great resilience but Yorkshire proved to be too strong with a final score, 8-1 Yorkshire. The final day saw the team battling it out for 3rd place v Cambridgeshire. With the score at 3-3 going into the doubles, there was all to play for but with two of the rubbers going to championship tie-breaks and the other rubber tightly fought, Dorset narrowly missed out on the overall win, final score 4-5. The team will move to Division 3.
A huge shoutout to all the players for their outstanding efforts, superb team spirit and camaraderie throughout County Cup, they all did Dorset proud and to our Team Coaches, Catherine Lawson, James White, Rob Booth and Rob Ringshaw.
A special THANK YOU to Jake, Taymur, Ambrose, Callum and Shakira as they wrap up their final year of Junior County Cup having represented the county playing in our teams, for many years, they’ve been brilliant.
