Dorset LTA’s Treasurer, Kevin Croydon, Retires After 20 Years of Exemplary Service

This year’s AGM marked a poignant moment as Kevin Croydon, Treasurer of Dorset LTA for the past two decades, retired from the role.

Kevin has enjoyed a remarkable tennis journey spanning nearly 50 years.  Having immersed himself in the world of tennis since the early ‘70s, Kevin has showed remarkable dedication and passion for the sport.  Prior to moving to Dorset in 1989, he played his tennis at clubs and sat on committees in Sussex, Surrey and Hertfordshire.  He joined Victoria Avenue LTC in 1990 where he served as Treasurer for an impressive 17 years.

Kevin retired from his financial post with Scottish & Southern Energy in 2002 and continued his tennis journey at The West Hants Club.  With the position of County Treasurer vacant, Kevin showed his unwavering commitment to the sport by taking on the role while also continuing, for a few years, the role of Treasurer at Victoria Avenue LTC.  Representing both Club and County at Seniors level, Kevin brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the tennis community.

So, after many years of service to the great game of tennis, Kevin is retiring for the second time. A huge thank you to Kevin from Dorset LTA for his amazing dedication and commitment to the county.  He has set a very high standard and will be a tough act to follow.

Although Kevin’s volunteering days are over (for now!), he will continue to enjoy his tennis for, as Kevin says, as long as his body allows!  That is when he’s not following one of his other passions, travelling, which Kevin will now be able to enjoy, without his laptop!

The AGM included presentations to LTA County Awards 2023 winners and was followed by a buffet and presentations to the Dorset Doubles League division winners for the Winter 2022/23 and Summer 2023 seasons. Other winners of the LTA County Awards who were not able to attend, Performance Coach of the Year, Catherine Lawson; Park Venue of the Year, Branksome Park and Club of the Year, Broadstone Tennis Club.  Congratulations to all.
