Easy to pick up and a great way to excerise, pickleball is fast becoming one of the most popular racket sports in the world. It's a fun, low-impact, social sport that can be played as either singles or doubles.
Adding pickleball to your tennis venue programme can offer several benefits, including increased membership, improved revenue, and greater community engagement.
The LTA are committed to supporting LTA registered venues and below you will find LTA pickleball related support for tennis venues, coaches, and players.
LTA Insurance
As an LTA registered venue, you are already covered to deliver pickleball activity. There is no action you need to take; we have you covered!
Programme Support
We will continue to add pickleball information to the Programming & Court Utilisation page to provide guidance on how best to add pickleball to your programme, provide case studies of good practice and ‘how to videos’ on setting up a pickleball court.
We are working with ClubSpark to ensure that we integrate Pickleball into their court booking and membership management modules as well as incorporating pickleball into the LTA digital online booking and search tools within our website.
Member Support
If you include pickleball players in your tennis membership they can receive LTA Advantage Play+ benefits. From March, the LTA will be offering Advantage Members a comprehensive range of kit and equipment through a new leading specialist pickleball retailer.
Coach Support
For LTA Accredited coaches we will be launching a pickleball course online (Q1), to help upskill them on how to facilitate pickleball activity as part of their coaching programme. Later in 2025, we will offer a one-day introduction to pickleball face to face course.
Kit & Equipment
From March, the LTA will be offering LTA Registered Venues a comprehensive range of kit and equipment through a new leading specialist pickleball retailer. This partnership will provide venues with access to an extensive range of products, including nets and court lines, and will offer the best prices on the market including discounts for you and your members.
Pickleball Courts
As well as guidance on setting up courts and an easy and low-cost way to purchase pickleball nets and lines, through our Delivery teams, dedicated Property Team and online guidance, we will provide advice on pickleball courts and tennis court markings for pickleball.
Member Support
As part of your venue registration benefits you have access to a wealth of safeguarding advice and guidance and a very well-established safeguarding infrastructure across venues. This includes template policies and procedures, welfare officer support forums, direct support on safeguarding cases from the LTA Safeguarding team and access to our annual safe to play safeguarding conference.
We also offer venues safeguarding support visits with direct 1-1 support from a locally based safeguarding officer to support you in ensuring your venue is safe.
Our safeguarding policies and procedures are equally applicable to any activity you undertake at your venue, including Pickleball, and will help support in ensuring the activity you run is undertaken with best practice safeguarding measures in place.
Should you have a safeguarding incident take place within pickleball activity involving tennis members at your venue, and / or LTA accredited coaches you can contact the LTA dedicated safeguarding team for support here.
Should you have a safeguarding incident take place within pickleball activity but involving pickleball only members of your venue, you will need to refer this to Pickleball England.
As always, any case involving an immediate risk of harm should be reported directly to police or your local children’s services department.
