Dorset men’s over 65’s team had a successful trip to Norfolk in the Seniors County Cup with a 3-2 win to keep them top of Division 1a.
After a pleasant evening in Norwich, the team had a tough 4 hour match indoors on an extremely hot day. After the first round, the team were 2-1 down, with two losses going to a match tie break. Matt Troke played well in his singles and with Alan Edwards, whose match went to a tie-break, they managed to tire their two singles players for the doubles match. Matt, who battled with cramp, went on to win the doubles round and with the match in the balance at 2-2, Steve Davies and Clive Nicholls held on to clinch the deciding doubles 11-9 in the match tie break.
Next match is 18th August, at home v Hertfordshire.
