The Play Your Way To Wimbledon 18U Boys Doubles Area Finals (Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset) took place at Bournemouth Gardens over a wonderful, sunny weekend (24th July).
Plenty of excellent play throughout the day saw two Dorset teams winning through to the final beating teams from Wiltshire, Alex and Thomas, and Will and Finley. It must have been one of the most closely contested finals in recent years, played out by a big crown with members of the public being blown away by the standard of play,
The Final saw Alex and Thomas take the first set, 6 games to 3. Will and Finley weren’t willing to give up easily and raised their game in the second set, winning it convincingly 6-2. This brought the match to a decisive match tie-break with Alex and Thomas taking the win, 10-7.
Their victory secures them a place in the National Finals at Wimbledon in August where they will have the opportunity to compete against other top players from across the country.
A fantastic match to end a superb tournament in amazing weather.
