Dorset Tennis held their first Zoom coffee catch-up session. The event brought together representatives from Cattistock Tennis Club, Swanage Tennis Club, East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club and Sherborne Tennis Club and provided an opportunity for clubs to connect, sharing experiences, ideas, challenges and best practice.
The coffee catch-up commenced with introductions from the club representatives followed by an overview of Dorset Tennis setting out their mission and the range of services it offers to support local tennis clubs in Dorset. A key focus was their updated Grants Scheme which provides financial support to eligible tennis clubs, coaches, officials and tennis players. Attendees were able to gain a good understanding of the changes, eligibility criteria and application process with the opportunity to ask questions.
The setting up of a WhatsApp Group for club volunteers was discussed which was felt to be a great idea to help everyone get connected. An invite will be sent to join the Group in the near future.
During the evening, Cattistock Tennis Club and East Dorset LTCC expressed their keenness to share their fantastic grass courts with clubs and tennis players who would like to sample Wimbledon style tennis in the summer and invite anyone interested to contact them to make arrangements to play.
Looking ahead, Dorset Tennis plans to organise regular Zoom coffee catch-ups to bring the county’s tennis clubs together providing a platform for knowledge sharing and support within the local tennis community.
