Update – Dorset Doubles League

The LTA have announced that they have now extended the cancellation of all LTA staged and LTA approved competitions, including Leagues, up to Sunday 28th June 2020.  It is therefore with great regret that Dorset LTA has had to take the decision to cancel the Dorset LTA Doubles Leagues Summer 2020 season.  It would have been impossible to complete the season, even if it were to be extended, in time for a possible start of the next winter season.
It is expected that fees that have already been paid for the Summer season will be rolled over to the Winter League 2020/21 and refunds/extra fees will be looked at based on the teams entered for each Club as appropriate.
The current very tentative aim is that the 45 or so outstanding matches across 18 divisions in the Winter League 2019/2020 should be finished by the end of July or further decisions will be made dependent on the lockdown situation and social distancing advice at that time.  In view of the current uncertainties please await further advice before rescheduling any matches.  Dorset LTA is sorry that it cannot be more precise at the moment, but will try to keep everyone informed as the situation evolves. Dorset LTA look forward to competitive tennis continuing as soon as it is safe to do so.
The National LTA remain in regular, direct dialogue with the Government in relation to the Coronavirus to ensure the guidance they are providing to those involved in tennis is the right advice at that time. Their aim is for tennis activity to return as soon as is possible in a way that is both safe and appropriate based on Government advice. This includes scenario planning for a resumption of tennis competitions when conditions allow, but at this stage it remains too early to speculate as to how or when this may be.
